I sighed as I looked around the camp grounds. I was in Japan for the third time in my short life. My father is in the military and always moving. The longest I've stayed in one place is a year and a half (why they move him around so much is a mystery to me). My older sister Ericka used to say they did it because my father was so good. Whatever the reason was, I wish it would go away. I've given up on making any friends. I prefer my computer anyways. It's better than any friends I'd make.
I pushed a strand of my short brown hair out of my face. It was just at my shoulders now and had a nice natural wavy curl to it. It fell into my gray green eyes. Today I was in my usual jeans and blue button-up shirt. On my back I had my backpack with my trusty labtop (I never leave home without it!) and some snacks.
Just as I started to sit down to get out my labtop, it started to snow. Wait a second, it doesn't snow in July, at least not in Japan. What's the deal?! Has the global warming problem turned into a global freezing problem?! Suddenly I saw some beams of light shoot from the sky. I was just barely missed by one. I went over and recovered it from the snow.
"What in the world-" I started as I picked it up. The thing glowed and I was taken into this vortex thing. I screamed as it took me who knows where.
I fell down, still screaming, on something furry.
"Hey, watch it!" the thing exclaimed. It reminded me of a fox, sort of. It was small (oh about the size of a fox), orange with white on its stomach, the lower half of its face, and tips of tails, two ears that stood up with black at the tips, two tails, a backpack with one strap (it goes over her left shoulder, around her stomach and under her right arm.), and bright green eyes.
"HOLY COW WHAT IS THIS?!" I screamed in horror. Then I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself.
The creature smiled and stated, "I am Foxinmon, a digimon, or digital monster. You have landed in the digiworld! You must be a digi-destined"
"You are a what, I have landed WHERE, and what am I? Oh wait...I get it. I'm either dreaming, delusional, or having a halucination. I-it must've been that camp food."
"Um...no. I am a digimon, digital monster. Repeat after me, d-i-g-i-m-o-n, digimon. You are in the digital, or digi, world. Got that so far?"
I sighed and rolled my eyes. "Yes, I do."
The thing smiled. "Good. Now I am Foxinmon, a digimon; your digimon. You are a digi-destined. That's why you have a digivice. Now, is everything clear now, Becca?"
"Um, kind of-hey wait! How'd you know my name?!"
Foxinmon shrugged and answered, "I just do. Now, anymore questions?"
"Um, what is a digi-destined and what do they do?"
Foxinmon sighed. "Sit down and I'll tell you."
For the next 15 minutes, Foxinmon filled me in on everything she knew about the digi-destined.
"Okie day, so where are the rest of the digi-destined?"
"How am I to know? I'm just a Foxinmon."
"Well, are there anymore Foxinmon or what?"
"Yeah, but you'll never meet them." she stated very simply.
"Why not?" I asked curiously
Foxinmon took a deep breath before answering me. "Foxinmon are one of the rarest type of digimon in the digital world, we're also one of the strongest. I can control the elements of lightning, fire, wind, and Pixiemon, a friend of mine, taught me how to teleport places. They're were only a few left. We lived in a village secluded from the rest of the digital world. We like it better that way. Foxinmon hate to fight. I grew up in that village. All Foxinmon go there when they're Cubmons. Anyways, I left my village to go train with the great trainer Pixiemon. I was away for, oh, a few years I suppose. Anyways, when I came back, there were less than before. I don't know why. And there aren't any more Cubmons, all of them digivolved to Foxinmons. But they'll never leave the safety of the village; too many evil digimon want Foxinmon for their evil purposes."
I just looked at the two-tailed fox, unsure what to say. I felt really sad for all the Foxinmon being too scared to leave their homes. It must be awful only knowing people who want to use you.
There was uneasy silence as we both sat there unsure what to say. Maybe I should try and lighten the mood. This silence is making me uneasy.
"Well, maybe we should go see if we can find any other digi-destined." I suggested finally breaking the silence.
"Good idea. Come on." Foxinmon stated as she put her two tails together and started flying. I guess those tails aren't just there for nothing.
I walked and Foxinmon flew for most of the day. We were in this big field. It was so serene, calm, peaceful. In truth, the digital world seemed pretty empty. There was no other people (or digimon) around besides Foxinmon and I. I wonder where everyone is.
Suddenly I heard a buzzing. Foxinmon started looking around nervously as I just stopped.
"Foxinmon, what is that? It sounds like a humangous fly or something."
Foxinmon's ears went down and she got a look of horror on her face as the buzzing got louder.
"A bug or something is right! It's Kuwagimon!" Foxinmon exclaimed in horror.
"Who?" I asked when this big red flying bug with humangous pincers nearly sliced me. Lucky for me, Foxinmon moved me out of the way just in time.
"Don't worry, Becks, I can handle this guy. Just stay down!" Foxinmon ordered. I just nodded dumbly.
Kuwagimon came back. He swooped low towards me again.
"Lightning Strike!" Foxinmon yelled. A blue lightning bolt shot from her hand and hit Kuwagimon. However, that humagous fly kept flying towards us.
"Fire Blast!" Foxinmon yelled. This time she put her hands together and a steady blast of flames hit Kuwagimon. It at least stopped him from flying. It landed not too far from me.
"Tail Tornado!" she yelled. She spun her tails around and got up a little whirlwind that she aimed at Kuwagimon. He staggered back again. Unfortunately, he regained his ground and gave a loud screech.
Foxinmon's ears went back down and she lost some of the color from her face. "My attacks aren't strong enough! Let's get out of here-" she started when Kuwagimon came for me. He just barely missed me with those massive pincers!
"Becca!" Foxinmon screamed in horror as Kuwagimon tried to get at me again.
I started running for it. Unfortunately Kuwagimon could fly and was phenominally faster than me. I tripped and could practically see Kuwagimon going in for the kill.
"NO!" Foxinmon screamed as I felt the digivice getting hot.
Suddenly a light shot out from Foxinmon. "Foxinmon digivolve to...Faeriemon!"
Instead of a two-tailed orange fox, she was standing there:
"I am Faeriemon, the champion form of Foxinmon. I protect the creatures of earth and forest from evil digimon. I lure my enemies to sleep with my flute and then annihilate them with my Snake Vines and Faerie Arrow attacks."
Kuwagimon, thankfully, turned his attention to Faerimon, who was flying near by.
"Aww, you poor thing, you look cranky. Here, sleep." she stated and took out her flute from her quiver. She put it to her lips and started playing a slow, soft melody. I started getting drowsy and Kuwagimon went to sleep.
"Snake Vines!" Faeriemon yelled and large, thorned vines wrapped aroun Kuwagimon so he couldn't escape.
"Lets go, Becks!" Faeriemon stated flying down and grabbing my hand. "What about him?" I asked unsure. "Let him sleep; we need to get going!" she stated and flew off.
Faeriemon flew me around for about an hour before we landed again. We were in a forest now. Faeriemon let me down before landing beside me. Suddenly she glowed and de-degivolved to a different form. She was about the size of a kitten. She still had her ears and bright green eyes. She was now totally orange and had stubs of two tails.
"Who are you now?" I asked.
"Cubmon, my in-training form. As soon as I get some food and rest, I'll digivolve back into Foxinmon."
"Oh, ok. Well, it's getting dark. I guess here is as good as any place to camp out." I stated.
Cubmon nodded. So we spent the next half hour collecting wood and after 10 minutes, I got a fire started.
"Well, lets see, all we need now is dinner. Wait a sec..." I trailed and opened my backpack. I had some candy bars, one apple, and some bottled water.
I opened one of my candy bars and gave it to Cubmon. She took one bite, smiled, and then ate the rest in one bite. I smiled. Anyone who loves chocolate is a friend of mine. I took out the apple and starting munching on it as I gave Cubmon a few more of my candy bars. After three of them, she stopped and glowed.
"Cubmon digivolve to...Foxinmon!"
"Welcome back." I stated smiling.
"It is good to be back. Now, pass another candy bar please. Whoever invented those things is a genius!" she exclaimed happily.
I smiled and gave her the rest. I finished my apple, threw the core into the fire, sipped my water, and got out my labtop. I opened it up, turned it on, and started typing. I was documenting everything that happened today. I mean, I don't think I dreamed it all. However, when I get back, IF I ever get back, I don't think I'll tell anyone about this. Even if I did, I doubt anyone would believe me.
"Hey Becks, why don't you tell me about yourself? I told you about me." Foxinmon stated suddenly. I stopped typing. I knew she was going to ask eventually, but it didn't make me want to tell her anymore.
I sighed and closed my computer. "Well, lets see. My name is Rebecca Chan, I'm into computers, books, and other intellectual things. My favorite food is pizza and my favorite place to live so far is Japan. I have a mom and dad. My mom is a teacher and my dad is in the military. I have to move a lot because of him. I did have an older sister, but I don't want to go into that."
"That's cool. Well, you need to get some rest, I'll take first watch." Foxinmon stated.
"No, I'll take first watch. You need to rest from fighting. Don't worry, I have my computer to keep me busy."
"Ok.." Foxinmon stated. she layed down and let her tails cover her. She fluffed up her fur and put her backpack under her head.
"Good night." she stated and instantly fell asleep.
I opened up my labtop and continued typing until I was so tired I could barely keep my eyes open. I turned off my labtop and went to sleep.
