~*In the Morning*~
I awoke with an awful headache. The only light I could see what a small dying fire. All around me were dark, stone walls. Foxinmon was no where in site. I got up and winced at I felt pain in my arms, back, and legs. I had fallen and this time I didn't fall on Izzy. As I stretched to try and ease my pain, I remembered what happened last night. I looked around paniced. Maybe Skullsatamon had captured us and put me and Foxinmon in different cells! Oh no!
"Good, you're up." Foxinmon's voice stated. I squinted to see where she was. I think I hit my head really hard when I fell.
"Where are we?" I asked looking around.
"In a cave not too far from where we fell. You hit your head pretty hard. I got really scared. For a while there, you weren't breathing. Here, drink this." Foxinmon stated handing me a small clay bowl.
"What is it?" I asked skeptically.
"An old remedy my sister taught me."
"Sister? You had a sister?" I asked amazed. Foxinmon faced the fire and didn't say anything. Her ears were down like when there was an evil digimon.
"What happened to 'I'm you're friend and you tell me everything?'" I asked angrily.
I saw a tear run down Foxinmon's cheek.
"All right, if you put it that way. I wasn't like most Foxinmon. My digi-egg hatched into twins, Demicubmon, me, and my twin deminekomon. We grew up together with the other digimon in Primary village. Eventually we both digivolved. I into Cubmon and she into Nekomon. We both lived in the village with Cubmons and Foxinmons, growing up and being ourselves.
"I finally digivolved into Foxinmon and she into Kimon. Kimons are like Foxinmons only they only have one tail, and control the element of water. They're also a very deep purple, they look almost black in low light. We loved those days. We were always playing around, having fun. Those were the most joyful days of my life. Kimon is the only person that brought me real joy.
"Anyways, one day before I went to train with Pixiemon, a demon digimon came to the village. We all fought very bravely, but it got the best of us. Kimon took a blast for me and was injured. We were eventually able to ward off the demon digimon, but Kimon didn't make it. She was my closest and only friend. Whenever I get close to someone, something bad happens to them. I don't know if it's me or what."
I didn't say anything. And I thought I had been through alot. I just sipped her remedy, unsure what to say.
~*Meanwhile*~
"Where are you going so early, Izzy?" Tentomon asked curiously as Izzy tried to tip-toe out.
"Shh! I'm going to go and look for Becca and Foxinmon."
"But why?" Tentomon asked confused.
"I can't explain right now, Tentomon."
"Ok, but I'm still coming with you." Tentomon stated.
"I wouldn't have it any other way-" Izzy started when he saw Skullsatamon's smiling face.
"Oh no you don't, I'll find her first! Skull Hammer!" he exclaimed and shot the top of the came. There was a small earthquake that woke up the rest of the digi-destined as well.
"What's going on?!" Mimi exclaimed.
"The cave is...caving in!" Tai exclaimed as humagous boulders started blocking the exit.
Skullsatamon stood there laughing as the final boulder fell, locking the others inside.
"I'll come back for you later, digi-destined!" Skullsatamon exclaimed and left.
"Great! Our only escape is now blocked!" Matt exclaimed.
"Maybe there's an exit on the other side of the cave." Izzy suggested calmly.
"Izzy's right! Lets go!" Tai exclaimed leading the way.
~*Back to the kewl characters, Becca and Foxinmon!*~
After Foxinmon telling me her story, we both stayed silent. I wasn't really sure what to say. No wonder she kept to herself usually, just like me. I mean, who wouldn't? She'd lost everyone she had every cared about. Gosh, for once, I have no idea what to say. Oh well, I'll take a stab at it anyway.
"Well, you're not the only one who lost a sister." I whispered barely audible.
"What?" Foxinmon asked, her ears coming back up a little.
"She was my best friend in the world. She was five years older than me and my world. I looked up to her and she watched over me. She was always there when I got lonely because of having to move so much. She wasn't like other older siblings, she was very loving and caring. She looked out for me like an older sister should. She could always get me to laugh and taught me to search for the joy in life. Her name was Ericka
"Anyways, one day she and I were walking home in New York. I started walking across a street without looking- I was five, give me a break! Anyways, Ericka and one of her friends ran after me. Ericka's friend was quicker and scooped me up and held me to her. The only thing I could hear was a scream and a car screching. Ericka's friend told me to run so I did so.
I got home safely and waited for Ericka to come in. I waited for hours. Finally, my mom came home. She was crying. I asked her where Ericka went...my mother cried harder. My dad came home and both of tried to explain it to me, but I wouldn't listen. I was 5, did anyone really think I'd want to hear Ericka was dead?! Oh, but I did believe it when I saw her in that coffin..." I took a deep breath to keep myself from crying. "So, yes, I do have any idea of how it felt to lose a sister, Foxinmon; even if she wasn't my twin."
Foxinmon just looked at me. Tears started rolling down my cheeks. I had never told anyone about Ericka since her death, I never trusted anyone since then. Ericka promised me that she'd never leave and then she did. I wonder why I trust Foxinmon so much....it's like she's an old friend.
Foxinmon flew over and sat by me. Suddenly she hugged me real tightly.
"I know we've both been hurt, but that's no reason why we should be sad about it. I've learned that Kimon would've wanted me to be happy when I remember her and keep going in life. I say we do as your sis said, look for the joy in life, not sadness." Foxinmon stated while hugging me.
As one final tear rolled down my cheek, I smiled. I hugged back my wise little digimon.
"You're right. Now lets get out of here and find the others!" I said now smiling.
"Lets go!" Foxinmon exclaimed doing her best Tai impression and started walking deeper into the cave with me following.
*~Meanwhile*~
"We've been walking for over an hour and there's no sign of that this cave ever ends. Maybe we should just go back." Joe stated pestimistically.
"We're in no better shape if we go back." Matt stated.
"Besides, the cave has to end eventually. It's logic." Izzy stated very simply.
"I don't think we should be relying on logic here, Izzy. Everything in the digital hasn't been logical so far." Sora stated.
Everyone continued walking in silence until they got to a fork in the cave.
"Great, what do we do now?" Joe asked.
"The most logical thing to do would be that half of us go one way and the other half the other way." Izzy stated.
"Is that really wise? I think the last thing we want to do now is split up." Sora stated.
"But Izzy has a point. Matt, Sora, and Kari and I will go to the left and Mimi, Joe, Izzy, and T.K. go to the right." Tai suggested.
Everyone nodded and went in seperate directions.
~*Back to Becca and Foxinmon*~
The deeper Foxinmon and I walked, the more hopeless it seemed. I started thinking we'd never get out and find the others. The cave finally split in two directions.
"Which way should we go, Becks?"
"I dunno...um...Iny Mini Miny Mo. Catch a tiger by his toe; if he hollers make him pay, 50 dollars everyday. My mom said to pick the very best one and you are it-" I stated and pointed to the right.
"To the right it is then." Foxinmon stated and flew ahead.
"Hey, wait up!" Becca called and ran after Foxinmon.
~*Meanwhile*~
Mimi, Joe, Izzy, and T.K were walking deeper and deeper into the cave with no signs of an exit anywhere.
"We're lost and we're all going to die in this cave!" Joe ranted.
"Stop being so pestimisstic, Joe!" Gomamon exclaimed.
"There has to be an exit, Joe. Everyone knows that caves have two ends!" Mimi said smiling.
Izzy started to correct her, but decided it was better not to. He observed their strange surroundings, wondering where the end to the cave might be and if Becca was all right or not. Suddenly, something caught his eye. It was some writing in digicode. Izzy stopped and stared at it.
"What is it, Izzy?" Tentomon asked stopping beside him while everyone went ahead.
"Tento, can you read this digicode?" Izzy asked curiosly.
"Izzy, what is it?" T.K. asked as he and the others walked towards them.
"Not more than a couple words, this is very old." Tentomon stated.
"Well, read what you can." "Well...that's Joy," Tentomon stated pointing at one of the letters as Izzy got out his labtop and started documenting what Tentomon said, "and that's Knowledge, and that's Courage. That's all I can read."
"Thanks Tento." Izzy stated while feriously typing on his computer.
"What is it, Izzy? What are you doing?" Mimi asked.
"Trying to figure out that code."
"Well, you can do that later, we need to find the end to this cave. We could be stuck in here for days already! Plus, what if an evil digimon comes and-we just need to get out of here! You can figure out the code when we're out of here!" Joe stated angrily.
"All right." Izzy agreed closing his labtop. The four started walking deeper and deeper into the cave.
~*Back to Becca and Foxinmon*~
"Man, this stupid cave goes on forever." Becca stated as Foxinmon lowered herself to the ground and started walking.
"No kidding; it's worse than my bag. Maybe it's an endless cave." Foxinmon stated as she walked beside me.
"Hey, Foxin, didn't you 'member where you came in?"
"Nope, I was pretty weak when I dragged you in here. I mean, think about it. I'm only a Rookie that was able to digivolve to Champion for a few moments, fighting an Ultimate. Plus, I had to carry you for a while. You can't expect me to remember the cave entrance."
"I know, but I could hope." I stated when I felt my tag getting hot. I took it out from under my shirt. It was glowing light blue.
"Well, that doesn't happen everyday." I stated.
"Oh my gosh, your tag is reacting! That must mean your crest is near, and if your crest is near and you get it, I GET TO DIGIVOLE TO ULTIMATE!! YES!" Foxinmon exclaimed happily.
"Don't get too ahead of yourself, we have to find it first."
"Technicalilties! Come on, which way is it leading?!" Foxinmon exclaimed excited.
"Um, forward I guess." I stated. Foxinmon immediately jumped off the ground and flew in that direction with me running to catch up with her.
"Wait for me, Foxinmon!" I exclaimed.
Foxinmon ignored me and kept flying towards the place I thought my crest was. Suddenly, she disappeared. I immediately started running faster, my heart pounding at the speed of light.
"FOXINMON?! Where are you?!" I screamed desperately trying to see if she had gone too far ahead.
"ANSWER ME FOXINMON-AHHH!!!" I screamed as I fell downwards. I didn't know there was a cliff in front of me.
~*Meanwhile*~
"I really wish we'd find the other opening to this cave; I'm getting tired." Kari stated softly.
"Well....I guess we could rest." Tai stated looking at his little sister. Everyone stopped and either sat or leaned against the wall.
Suddenly, there was a scream.
"What was that?!" Matt exclaimed.
"I don't know. Everyone, stay here, I'll be back in a minute!" Tai ordered and ran for the direction of the scream.
"Wait for me, Tai!" Agumon called and chased after him.
~*Meanwhile*~
Izzy, Mimi, Joe, and T.K. all froze at the sound of the scream.
"That sounded alot like-" Joe started.
"Becca!" Izzy exclaimed and started running in that direction.
"Wait up. Izzy!" Tentomon, Mimi, Joe, T.K., and all their digimon exclaimed frantically trying to catch up with him.
Suddenly Izzy disappeared. Everyone else stopped as Tentomon flew forward soon disappeared too.
"What happened?!" T.K. asked amazed.
"I-I don't know!" Joe exclaimed.
"Hey, Izzy must be a magician now! Cool trick, Izzy!" Mimi exclaimed smiling.
"What should we do?!" T.K. exclaimed looking towards Joe.
"I-uh-um-we should just stay here and see if Izzy comes back." Joe stated nevously.
"Shouldn't we go after him?" Patamon asked curiously.
"Well-I-uh-"
"I agree with Joe, let's just wait. Izzy is probably just doing some magic trick and will reappear in a minute." Mimi said smiling and sat down. Everyone sighed and sat down as well, not wanting to fight with Mimi.
~*Back to Becca and Foxinmon*~
"Becca-Becca-BECCA!" Foxinmon screamed as she shook my shoulders. Suddenly, she heard two thumps and Tentomon saying, "Izzy, you really need to go on a diet when you get back!"
Foximon cautiously flew over and saw Tai and Agumon rubbing their heads and Izzy and Tentoment fall from about five feet in the air beside them.
"Tai, Agumon, how did you get here?!" Izzy exclaimed standing up and rubbing his behind.
"I heard someone scream and I went to see who it was." Tai explained standing up and brushing himself off.
"My hypothesis is that it was Becca."
"I guess that's reasonable. But I don't see her anywhere, where is she? I know I heard a scream." Tai stated as he wobbily got up.
Foxinmon timidly flew over.
"She's over here. I flew over the gorge and she ran into it. I wasn't able to stop her. She's unconscious." Foxinmon stated, hovering just above them and pointing towards me.
Tai and Izzy spritinted for me and both just stared, unsure what to do.
"Where's Joe when you need him." Tai whispered irritatibly.
"Ooh, what happened?" I groaned and rubbed my head. I had a tremendous headache.
"You're all right!" Foxinmon exclaimed and flew over and landed right on top of me, hugging me tightly.
"NEED AIR!" I gasped, and she let me go.
I slowly got up and observed my surroundings. Suddenly, my mind registered who was with me.
"Tai,...Izzy...where did ya'll come from?" I asked curiously while trying to see register what just happened.
"We heard you scream and come to save you. Unfortunately, we all need to be saved now." Tai explained absently rubbing his head.
"Cool! I have two knights in shining armor! Thanks!" I said smiling.
Tai got a big grin on his face and Izzy blushed. Suddenly, my tag started reacting again.
"Hey, your tag is reacting! Your crest must be near by!" Tai exclaimed happily.
"Prodigious! We'll get to see what the ninth crest is! I wonder what it will be of..." Izzy trailed happily. It's so easy to make him happy.
"Well, ok, lets see, I think it's this way," I stated pointing deeper into the cavern we had fallen into.
"Lets go!" Tai exclaimed happily as he walked ahead.
"WAIT UP TAI!" Izzy, Foxinmon, Tentomon, Agumon, and I called running after him.
*~1 hour later*~
"Is your tag still reacting?" Tai asked evasporated.
I only nodded, my tag still glowing in my hand. Finally, we came to a wall.
"Great, a dead end." I stated. "And my crest is on the other side!" I added unhappily.
"Maybe not...Tai's crest was like this too." Izzy stated as he got out his labtop. "And I do believe this is your crest. Why it is not reacting is the mystery."
I looked closely at the wall. There was the emblem of joy carved into the wall in fairly big size. My tag was glowing like crazy, but the wall wasn't moving.
"Maybe-maybe I'm not supposed to have a crest. This is the sign for joy...too many bad things have happened to me to have real joy." I whispered looking at my feet.
"You have lots of joy!" Tai exclaimed indignitely.
"Tai is correct. Throughout everything, you always try to keep a good attitude; it's contagious. You have an abundance of joy, Rebecca, everyone can tell that." Izzy stated looking from his labtop into my eyes. There was something different about the way he looked at me...I couldn't identify it, but there was.
"Try touching it, Becks, maybe it'll work then." Foxinmon suggested standing next to me.
"Do it with me, Foxinmon, I mean the crest is for you." I said smiling.
"Too chicken to do it, huh? That's the way it is always is, you can't send a human to do a digi-two-tailed fox's job. All right. 1, 2, 3!" she exclaimed. On three, we both touched the wall.
Nothing happened.
"That worked well." I stated with a sigh. "Wait, look, the wall is reacting!" Agumon exclaimed.
All of us held our breath waiting for something to happen.
Suddenly Skullsatamon burst through the wall. All of us covered our heads as he came towards us.
"Oh NO!!" I exclaimed and all of started running the other way.
